Welcome

Hi, I am Natalie. Thank you for taking the time to visit my webpage. Below, you will find some information about me personally and also my qualifications.

A little bit about me

I have always had an innate interest in the human condition. I believe we are all truly unique and each of us have our own journey to make in this unpredictable thing we call life! Neuroscience and how our brains work also fascinates me; it can tell us a lot about why we react in certain ways, simply because of our biology and how we are wired. I am excited about the prospect of being able to re-wire pathways within our brains and thus how we respond to adversity. It is a privilege to sit in my therapist chair and watch my clients begin to understand themselves better and become better equipped to deal with life's challenges.

I was a lecturer previously, and I loved to teach. But there always felt like something was missing and I had a longing to make a difference to people on a more personal level. I started to volunteer as a support worker in a charity supporting women with maternal mental health and wellbeing in the pre and postpartum period. I knew I had an instinctual way of relating to people and so I decided to retrain as a therapist. Prior to starting my private practice, I have worked at two mental health charities, most recently at Cotswold Counselling in Cirencester. I have had the privilege of counselling many clients presenting with a wide range of mental health struggles. I am beyond passionate about my work and I am committed to meet the needs of my clients throughout their time with me.

During four long years of study to become a therapist, I have embarked on much self development work and have got to know the very core of myself. This has been both incredibly challenging and positively life changing! As part of my studies, I attended my own personal weekly therapy sessions. I know what it is like to seek therapy. I know what it is like to be in the 'other chair'. It can be daunting starting work with a therapist and the sessions themselves can sometimes be overwhelming. But my overall experience has been one of enlightenment. The power of sitting with someone relationally and building a strong therapeutic alliance has been nothing short of revelatory.

Outside of the therapy space, I enjoy spending time reading, running and connecting with the great outdoors. You will find me happiest outside, taking a breath of fresh air whilst listening to birdsong.
